Blueprint Storage Solutions: Keeping Important Blueprints Undamaged
Although things have become digital and automated, it is important to secure paper files. All documents are important—no matter how old they are. Old files may be more important than newer and digitized ones so they should be secured in a safe place. Industries that based on blueprints should have an effective

and archiving system to keep important files protected.
How many blueprints should be kept? One of the first things to do is to determine which blueprints are going to be kept and which are to discarded. Knowing how much documents must be stored can help the archiving staff to select the type of storage equipment to use. This will also help the staff to know how to organize the blueprints, enabling staff members to decide on storing the documents either vertically or by rolling and putting them in pigeon holes.
Classify blueprints by project or by date. That way, everyone can find them without too much hassle. It will be easy to locate them if there are labels and color codes in the storage cabinet. Separate original blueprints from copies. It is best to keep original blueprints in a much secure place.
It is best to file blueprints vertically so that the cabinet/shelf space can be maximized. Additionally, this will keep blueprints from being creased and crumpled. A mounted rack is also a good storage place for blueprints. Find one with wheels so that blueprints can be easily transferred from one place to another. Racks with drawers are perfect storage cabinets for blueprints that are filed horizontally. They keep blueprints protected from dust and moisture damage.
Blueprints should be stored in one room. If they are placed in a storage area with the other documents, they are most likely to be misplaced. There should be large cabinets where they can be efficiently placed. A steel
